Spazju Kreattiv (Creative Space) is Malta's national centre for creativity, housed in the restored St James Cavalier — a 16th-century fortification built by the Knights of St John at the entrance to Valletta. The centre opened in 2000 and hosts a year-round programme of contemporary art exhibitions, theatre, dance, music, cinema, workshops and community events.
The building itself is a remarkable conversion of a military structure into a cultural space, with galleries, a theatre, a cinema and a courtyard café.
