Local Tip

The fort is on private land and not open to the public — view it from the coastal path between St Peter's Pool and Delimara Point.

Fort Delimara is a polygonal coastal fortification built by the British between 1876 and 1878 at Delimara Point, the south-eastern tip of Malta. It was designed to guard the approaches to Marsaxlokk Bay and to counter any enemy batteries on the opposite shore. The fort was armed with large rifled muzzle-loading guns, several of which remain in place today.

The fort is not currently open to the public — it is on private land and has been in a state of disrepair for some years. However, it can be viewed from the surrounding coastal path, which connects St Peter's Pool to Delimara Point and offers dramatic views of the fort's seaward ramparts and the open sea beyond. The area is popular for coastal walks and swimming at the nearby St Peter's Pool.
