Teatru Manoel
Malta's national theatre and one of Europe's oldest working theatres, presenting opera, dance, music and drama in the heart of Valletta.
About the theatre
Teatru Manoel is Malta's national theatre, located on Old Theatre Street in Valletta. Built in 1731 by the Grand Master of the Order of St John, it is one of the oldest working theatres in Europe and a jewel of Baroque architecture.
The theatre presents a year-round programme of opera, dance, classical music, theatre and contemporary performance, hosting both local companies and international artists. Its intimate auditorium, ornate gilded boxes and excellent acoustics make it one of Malta's most cherished cultural venues.
