Food at Roza Gozo: 14/20
Roza Bistro, set in Victoria’s central square, offers an ideal spot for a pre-theatre meal or a long lunch. Joe and Kath have created a special place with a creative simple menu focused on fresh, local ingredients with inventive twists. The famous Gozo sausages are to the fore. There is of course a platter, Flavours of Gozo, with soft and aged goats’ cheese, broad bean dip, fruits, and sun dried tomatoes at €14.90. Other highlights include spicy nduja burrata, Gozo sausage wontons served with curry mayo and mango chutney, and BBQ local sausages with fennel jam, all at €13.90. There are lots of good pasta dishes. We would recommend, Gozo sausage & pumpkin paccheri with walnuts , aged local goats' cheese and sage, at €16.90. The wild mushroom paccheri with pistachios and caramelised leeks and fresh burrata cheese at €17.09 , and the lamb ragu paccheri with tomato salsa, mint, basil and parmesan at €18.90 . Main courses are hearty such as roast lamb shoulder at €26.90, Pork cheek stew at €24.90, and the famous Roza Fire Pit Feast sharing different beef dishes at €67.50 for a group. Unusually there is also a good choice of vegetarian and vegan options, and a kids menu.
Atmosphere at Roza Gozo: 7/10
There are tables outside in the square, if you don’t mind the passing tourists, or inside which has recently been done up. The inner courtyard feels quite smart now. The crowd is mainly visitors, casually dressed, with a few locals more smartly dressed. Booking is advised on theatre nights, and for Sunday lunch.

Service is fast and friendly. The wine list offers a good choice of Italian and Maltese wines, with the odd standout. Prices are generally reasonable.
