Food at Blue Elephant: 14/20
If you have a craving for good Thai food, then look no further. The Thai owners have moved to Malta and brough their stylish restaurant with them. The food is very much what you would expect, and the prices are good. Chicken satay at €9.25, minced prawn dim sum at €10 , Thai fish cakes at €9, and chicken wings at €9.25. Main courses vary from Monkfish samoo-prai at €20 to green chicken curry at €18.5. The chefs can alter spiciness according to taste.
Atmosphere at Blue Elephant: 8/10
Blue Elephant is a corner of Thailand carved out across one of the lower floors in the Hilton Hotel. A wonderful stream runs through the middle and the interior is carefully crafted to reflect Thai accents. It may feel a little like walking into Disney Adventure World, but this is actually very welcome for those who live here and desire a scene change. It is a large popular restaurant, particularly with American visitors, but the noise level is nevertheless good.
Service at Blue Elephant: 8/10
The servers are overwhelmingly Thai, and therefore both extremely charming and knowledgeable about the food. You will receive a warm welcome here. The wine list is quite comprehensive covering most countries and most levels. It is slightly above normal Maltese prices, but the better wines are bargains compared to the Michelin listed places. A Scolca Gavi will cost you €45, a Sancerre €65 and a Chablis premier cru €90. A Saint Emilion Grand Crus is also €90.
